FINAL CUT: A Novel-ish by Michael A. Kominsky
A serialized novel on SPOTIFY.COM
Fiction – the lie through which we tell the truth.
— Albert Camus
A cautionary parable of the twin existential perils of the unfettered, unregulated worship of technology, that has driven the threat of the 6th Mass Extinction from Climate Change, and now, the exponentially increasing reliance on dehumanizing, Artificial Intelligence.
Michelangelo Kozlov, a self-satisfied plutocrat and successful “media hitman”… a contract assassin of character— for the Media Mafia,—is livin’ large, when his idyllic lifestyle is shattered by a personal near fatal putative attack by Islamic terrorists a month after 9/11, provoking a painfully honest re-examination of his callow core values.
It is often said that technology is a “sword that cuts both ways. ” An idiom meaning a course of action, argument, or tool that possesses equally powerful positive … and negative consequences, or can harm the user as much as the intended target. It describes situations with significant advantages that come with equally significant risks or drawbacks.
According to Newton’s Third Law of Motion, for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.
And so it is with technology … It givith…and it taketh away …in equal measure.
As a consequence of the inherent asymmetrical time-frame of perceived benefit ratio of technology, the initial, often highly seductive benefits can obscure the long term detriment.
Does the aging filmmaker Mickey Kozlov, a once strident 60’s counterculture activist have the courage, conviction and guile to again oppose, by any means necessary, the canons and ruthless plutocrats of the same mighty “machina ex corporati” that made him very, very rich?
It’s long day’s journey in to light…so let’s get on with it…
